AM Briefing from Bowlersdesk.com for December 11, 2012

A lawsuit over the environmental impact of Del Mar Fairground expansion has been settled. This morning representatives from the Fairgrounds, Cities of Del Mar and SolanaBeach and the San Dieguito River Park Joint Powers Authority will official announce the settlement.  This means that some Fairground expansion can take place and some proposed expansion is postponed for the time being.  Now possible hotel construction is off the table for five years, no electronic sign near the freeway, and some increased traffic safety measures will be put in.

Today San Diego law enforcement will stuff patrol cars with teddy bears and deliver them to Rady Children’s Hospital. The twenty-two year old tradition began with just twelve bears being delivered by Coronado Police Officer Brian Hardy. Today there is a caravan of Police cars each filled to the brim with stuffed animals for the patients and their families.

And tonight at five thirty San Diego winter homeless shelter will host its tree lighting ceremony. The temporary shelter is set up at sixteenth and Newton Avenue and is expected to serve over a thousand people.
